An excerpt from the introductory word by Milan Hlaveš:
Glass arts and crafts have brought international fame to the Czech lands at
least since the Middle Ages. In this region, countless amazing and world-famous
items have been created for purpose and pleasure. Thousands of unknown and
renowned artists, craftsmen, teachers, traders, and investors have contributed
to this. The last century was no different in this respect. Society changed rapidly
under the influence of revolutionary and often fateful political, economic, and
social events, but the tradition of glassmaking persisted. Among the many artists
who participated in its development and continuation, several artists stood
out whose artwork was significant for the future. With their talent, diligence
and ability to take advantage of their education, experience, and naturally also
thanks to the favorable circumstances they could benefit from, these artists
significantly enriched the history of Czech glass.
This representative monograph focuses on one of them – Vladimír Procházka.
